Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to the Kingdom of happiness

Your Bhutan adventure begins as you arrive at Paro International Airport, one of the world’s most spectacular mountain airports. Surrounded by pristine valleys, fluttering prayer flags and snow-capped mountains, after meeting your guide and completing arrival formalities, embark on a picturesque drive to Thimphu, the capital city, following the wang chu rivers through beautiful Himalayan landscapes. Upon reaching Thimphu, check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch, spend the afternoon at leisure exploring Thimphu Town. Walk through the city’s streets.

Day 2: Explore Thimphu

Visit Buddha Dordenma, one of the largest seated Buddha statues in the world. From here, begin the hike to changangkha Lhakhang, following a pleasant trail through pine forests and ridgelines. The hike concludes at one of Thimphu’s oldest and most important temples, where locals often come to seek blessings for their children. Continue to the Motithang Takin Preserve to observe Bhutan’s national animal and learn about the legend behind its unique appearance. Next, visit zilukha Nunnery, one of the country’s largest nunneries, where Buddhist nuns dedicate themselves to study, praye and spiritual practice. After lunch, proceed to the institute of Astrology, where ancient Bhutanese astrology, where ancient Bhutansese astrological traditions continue to guide important religious ceremonies, festivals and personal milestones. Day 3: Thimphu- Punakha

After breakfast, drive to Punakha through scenic valleys and hillside villages. Stop at Dochula Pass, where 108 chortens and prayer flags mark one of Bhutan’s best viewpoints, with clear-day Himalayan views. Continue to Punakha for lunch at a local restaurant, then visit chimi Lhakhang, the famous fertility temple linked to Lam Drukpa Kuenley. Set among rice fields, it is a peaceful and culturally rich stop. Next, explore Punakha Dzong, a striking fortress at the meeting point of the Pho chu and Mo chu rivers. Known for its elegant architecture and historic importance, it is one of Bhutan’s finest landmarks. Later, walk across the longest suspension bridge over the Pho chu river. Afterward, check in to hotel and enjoy an overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 4: Punakha- Gantey

Begin the morning with a rewarding hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, one of the Bhutan’s most beautiful hilltop Chorten, where spectacular 360-degree views of the Punakha Valley, river systems and surrounding mountains await. After the hike, continue your journey towards the pristine Phobjikha Valley, the route gradually ascends through forests and mountain roads, crossing Lawala Pass, which marks the entrance to the Phobjikha region. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before visiting Gangtey Monastery, a prominent Nyingma Buddhist monastery and one of the most significant religious institutions in central Bhutan. Later, explore Phobjikha Valley, a broad glacial valley known for its traditional villages and rich cultural heritage. Day 5: Longtey to Gangtey Hike

Today is dedicated to one of Bhutan’s most rewarding nature walks. Begin the Longtey to Gnagtey Hike, a trial that starts near Lawala Pass meadows and traditional settlements before reaching Gangtey. The route offers opportunities to observe local village life and natural environment of the Phobjikha region. After the hike, enjoy a relaxed afternoon exploring more of the valley or visiting nearby villages. Overnight stay in Phobjikha

Day 6: Gangtey to Paro

After breakfast, depart from gangtey and begin the journey back to Paro. En route, travel through Wangdue Phodrang and cross Dochula Pass before continuing towards paro. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant along the way. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the historic Paro Dzong, one of Bhutan’s finest examples of traditional architecture and an important admirative and religious centre. Continue to the National Museum of Bhutan, which houses an extensive collection of artifacts, traditional costumes and religious relics and cultural heritage. After sightseeing, check in to your hotel and enjoy evening at leisure. Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 7: Haa

Travel over Chele la Pass to the secluded Haa valley, one of Bhutan’s most culturally preserved regions. Visit Lhakhang Kharpo and Lhakhang Nagpo, two temples closely linked to the valley’s spiritual history. Spend time exploring local villages and gaining insight into the traditions and lifestyle of the Haa community before returning to Paro Overnight stay in paro.

Day 8: Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery

After breakfast, embark on a memorable hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktshnag) Bhutan’s most sacred landmark, dramatically perched on a cliff face approx. 900 meters above the Paro Valley, the most revered pilgrimage sites in the Himalayan kingdom. The hike takes you through beautiful pine forests and provides an opportunity to experience Bhutan’s spiritual heritage and natural beauty. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this sacred site on the back of a tigress and meditated here. After completing the hike wander through Paro town, browse local handicraft shops, visit traditional cafes.

Day 9: Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey. Your journey concludes here, carrying with it the spirit of Bhutan and experiences to cherish for years to come.
