Bumdra Trek 4days
Overview
The Bumdra trek begins with a steady ascent through forests of pine and rhododendron, passing Chhoetse Lhakhang, which offers grand views over Paro Valley and the snow-capped peaks beyond. As the trail climbs higher, it opens onto ridgelines lined with fluttering prayer flags, framing sweeping panoramas of the valley and distant Himalayan ranges. After 4–5 hours of hiking, trekkers reach the Bumdrak Monastery campsite at 3,800m — known as the “Cave of a Hundred Thousand Prayers” — where a night is spent camping beneath clear, star-filled skies. The following morning begins with a spectacular sunrise over the Himalayan peaks before the descent gets underway, winding down through scenic meadows and forest toward Taktsang Monastery, Bhutan’s iconic Tiger’s Nest. Clinging to a cliffside at 3,120m, this sacred site is believed to be where Guru Rinpoche meditated in the 8th century, and offers trekkers a chance to explore its halls and absorb its deep spiritual energy before completing the final descent back to the valley floor. Short yet richly rewarding, the Bumdra Trek combines high-altitude scenery, spiritual heritage, and a memorable overnight camp into a compact two-day journey — ideal for those with limited time who still want an authentic taste of trekking in the Bhutanese Himalayas
