Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: ARRIVAL IN PARO
Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, meet your guide and begin your journey through Bhutan’s cultural heartland. Visit the magnificent Rinpung Dzong, an architectural masterpiece overlooking the Paro Valley, followed by the historic National Museum of Bhutan, home to Bhutan’s finest collection of sacred art, traditional artifacts and centuries of history. Spend a relaxing evening soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of Paro.
Day 2: Tiger’s Nest
Embark on a memorable hike to the legendary Paro taktshang (Tiger’s Nest) Bhutan’s most iconic landmark dramatically perched on a sheer cliff 900 meters above the valley. The rewarding trek offers breathtaking scenery and a profound spiritual experience. After descending, enjoy leisure time exploring Paro’s charming local market.
Day 3: Trek begins: Ta Dzong to Jele Dzong (10km, 4-5 hrs, 3450masl)
Leave the valley behind as the trail winds steadily through fragrant pine forests and peaceful mountain slopes. As the trail climbs higher, panoramic views of the Paro Valley gradually unfold beneath you while snow-capped Himalayan peaks begin to appear in the distance. Arrive at the historic ruins of Jele Dzong, beautifully positioned on a mountain ridge, where you will spend your first night camping beneath the stars in the heart of Bhutan’s pristine wilderness.
Day 4: Jele Dzong to Tshokam (10km, 4 to 5 hrs)
Today’s trail meanders along scenic ridgelines, passing through blooming Rhododendron forests, expansive alpine meadows and peaceful yak grazing grounds. With every step, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic before reaching the serene campsite at Tshokam, surrounded by untouched natural beauty.
Day 5: Tshokam to Jimilangtsho
Continue deeper into Bhutan’s spectacular highlands as the trail crosses rolling mountain slopes and peaceful valleys before reaching the breathtaking Jimilang Tsho. Renowned for its crystal clear waters and tranquil surroundings, the lake reflects the surrounding peaks like a mirror on calm days. Surrounded by grazing yaks and dramatic mountain scenery, this is one of the most picturesque campsites along the entire Druk Path Trek.
Day 6: Jimilangtsho to Simtokha
As the trek gradually descends, the rugged alpine terrain gives way to lush forests and peaceful valleys. The trail offers a final opportunity to appreciate Bhutan’s unspoiled landscapes, accompanied by birdsong, mountain streams and fresh Himalayan air. Completing the trek near Thimphu, you will leave the wilderness with unforgettable memories of one of Bhutan’s most scenic mountain journeys.
Day 7: Discover Thimphu
Spend the day exploring Bhutan’s charming capital city, where ancient traditions blend seamlessly with modern life. Visit its iconic landmarks, admire impressive Buddhist monuments, stroll through vibrant local markets and discover Bhutanese arts and crafts that continue to flourish today. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive back to Paro.
Day 8: DEPARTURE
After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. As your journey comes to an end, depart with cherished memories of sacred monasteries, pristine mountain trails, breathtaking Himalayan landscapes and the warm hospitality that makes Bhutan a destination unlike any other.
