Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival – Your Bhutan story begins

From the moment your aircraft glides through the dramatic Himalayan mountains into Paro valley, you will realize this is unlike any destination you have visited before. Meet your guide and enjoy a scenic drive to Thimphu, where rivers, forests and traditional villages welcome you into the kingdom of happiness. If time allows, visit the Motithang Takin Preserve to encounter Bhutan’s National animal. As dusk settles over the capital, wander through the charming streets and local markets, where local cafes, artisan shops and welcoming streets offer the perfect introduction to Bhutan’s unique blend of tradition and modern life. Settle in and prepare for the unforgettable experiences that await in the days ahead.

Day 2: Thimphu

This morning, leave the city behind as you follow a peaceful forest trail to the WangditseTemple. Surrounded by towering Pine trees, the hike offers breathtaking views over Thimphu Valley and a sense of calm that stays with you long after the walk ends. The day becomes even more meaningful as you meet a revered Buddhist master for a private Kago (Blessing of Command) and traditional purification ritual, an experience few visitors have the privilege to receive. Listen to the stories of Buddhist wisdom, mindfulness and the philosophy that shapes everyday life in Bhutan. Later, visit the magnificent Buddha Dordenma, one of the world’s largest seated Buddha statues, gazing peacefully across the valley below. Complete your spiritual journey with a visit to Bhutan’s Institute of Astrology, where an experienced astrologer interprets your personal birth chart according to centuries old Bhutanese traditions.

Day 3: Thimphu-Punakha

Travel over the breathtaking Dochula Pass, where 108 white stupas rise above the clouds and the snow-covered Himalayan peaks reveal themselves on clear mornings. Decend into the lush Punakha valley and exchange mountain roads for the gentle flow of the Pho chhu River during an exciting white-water rafting adventure. Pause for a beautifully prepared picnic surrounded by rivers, forests and fortress views before exploring the majestic Punakha Dzong, an architectural masterpiece standing gracefully between two rivers. As evening arrives, unwind in the peaceful surroundings of Punakha, embraced by nature and timeless beauty.

Day 4: Punakha-Phobjikha

Begin the morning with a scenic hike through rice terraces to the elegant Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, where every step rewards you with sweeping views across the valley below. Continue through Wangdue before arriving in the breathtaking glacial valley of Phobjikha, where rolling meadows, traditional farmhouses and untouched wilderness create one of Bhutan’s most enchanting landscapes. Visit the centuries-old Gangtey Monastery and its Buddhist College before joining the monks for their evening prayers. As ancient chants echo through the monastery halls and butter lamps illuminate sacred murals, you will witness a deeply moving tradition that has remained unchanged for generations.

Day 5: PHOBJIKHA-PARO

Wake to the peaceful silence of Phobjikha Valley and enjoy a leisurely walk-through quiet villages, open wetland and pine forests. Depending on the season, you may even witness the graceful Black-necked Cranes, revered as sacred visitors to the valley. After soaking in the serenity of this remarkable landscape, continue your scenic drive back to the beautiful Paro Valley.

Day 6: Explore Paro

Step into Bhutan’s remarkable past at the National Museum, where priceless treasures reveal stories of kings, monks, warriors and centuries of tradition. Continue with the picturesque Zuri Trail, offering one of the finest panoramic viewpoints over Paro Valley, Rinpung Dzong and emerald rice fields below. In the afternoon, cross the traditional wooden bridge into the magnificent Rinpung Dzong. As evening approaches, dress in Bhutan’s elegant national attire the Gho for the gentlemen and the kira for ladies and immerse yourself in an authentic cultural evening. Through colourful costumes, masked dances and traditional music, Bhutan’s rich heritage comes alive before your eyes.

Day 7: TIGER’S NEST HIKE

No visit to Bhutan is complete without the unforgettable pilgrimage to Tiger’s Nest Monastery. Clinging dramatically to a sheer cliff nearly 900 metres above the valley, this sacred monastery has inspired travellers, pilgrims and photographers from around the world for centuries. The forest trail winds through fragrant pines, colourful prayer flags and spectacular viewpoints until the monastery finally reveals itself a sight that leaves every visitor speechless. After descending the mountain, reward your body with a traditional Bhutanese hot stone bath. As mineral rich water infused with healing herbs gently soothes tired muscles, you will discover why this centuries old wellness ritual remains one of Bhutan’s most cherished traditions.

Day 8: Until we meet again

As your journey comes to an end, transfer to Paro International Airport carrying far more than photographs. Take home unforgettable memories, heartfelt connections, sacred blessings and stories that will remain with you for a lifetime.
